How long has Lion Camp been in existence?
Lion Camp opened in June 2007. It is a privately-owned independent camp supported by staff who are all passionate about the camp, South Luangwa and Zambia. The Lion Camp site was first identified in the 1980’s, a testament to its ideal location in the heart of a superb game viewing area, away from the busy Mfuwe area. Lion Camp has just gone through refurbishment and we open our shiny new doors May 2018.
How much will it cost to stay at Lion Camp?
The cost depends on which time of year you choose to visit and which accomodation option you opt for. The bed night rate covers: accommodation, meals, safari activities, Mfuwe Airport road transfers (for stays of 3+ nights), VAT, tourism levy, service charge, laundry & bar (standard bar drinks & house wines). Please contact us for more information or see 'availability & rates'.
How many days should I stay at Lion Camp?
The recommended minimum stay is 3 nights, giving 2 full days to get the best out of a visit to the camp. That said we recommend 4-5 nights to cover all the different game viewing areas in the vicinity and have the best chance of seeing what you are most interested in. Lion Camp works well in combination with other camps, in different areas of South Luangwa or in other national parks such as Lower Zambezi or Kafue. Whilst in Zambia we also recommend a couple of nights in Livingstone to see Victoria Falls. Please contact us for more information.
I want to get married under the African sky - can you help me?

Do I need to bring cash with me?
Your stay at Lion Camp is on an all-inclusive basis. Zambian Kwacha should be used for any purchase or payment in country. On arrival in Zambia, you can change USD or GBP Cash in any bank or foreign exchange bureau. Alternatively kwacha cash can be withdrawn from an ATM.
Can I leave a tip for the staff?
Tipping is entirely at your discretion. Lion Camp staff and guides appreciate that tipping varies greatly between cultures and countries. There is a 'tip box' situated in the main area of the camp for guests who wish to leave a tip for the staff. Tips get shared out amongst all staff (including those in the workshop who you may not meet). Guides and scouts can be tipped seperately.
